I like to take a weekend or two each month to getaway from the hustle and bustle and relax and write. It is my sanctuary where I can be creative and unwind. Solitude has its benefits. I was reading today from a writing web site about taking time to yourself to write and getting away is one good way to be creative.
It mentioned the story of singer Bob Dylan who in 1965 after a six month road trip said he was finished and bought a cabin in upstate New
York and was going to be a novelist and painter. He was only there a few days when an overwhelming episode of creativity came to him and he wrote and wrote and wrote. Just four weeks later he assembled his band and they recorded “Like a Rolling Stone.” The rest is history.
Not all of us can do such a thing but getting away can refresh your life and inspire the inner you to come out. I encourage everyone to write. A dairy, a blog, a journal. Just write. Everyone has a story to tell. ~Patrick
